The Haberdashery was once a charming olde world brick & mortar store located in the picturesque town of Daylesford in country Victoria, Australia. The little store was reminiscent of an early 1800’s European village Haberdasher. The local shop which Seamstress’ and Makers would frequent to buy their cloth, yarn, piece of lace, spool of thread, ribbon, buttons or trim embellishment for their next garment or heirloom project.
However, shop owner Kerri Daniell is a Kiwi and in late 2017 moved back home to New Zealand after living 16 years in Australia, and rather than sell her beloved habby business, she shipped all of her beautiful stock home with her and now operates it as an online store, still with the same passion and integrity which started the shop originally.
Kerri loves to sew & knit and was taught by her extremely gifted seamstress mother from a very young age. So the love and respect of natural textiles and making things by hand is ingrained.
The Haberdashery specialises in quality natural cloth for dressmaking, beautiful knitting yarns, sewing and knitting tools, ribbons, lace, buttons as well as a selection of hand made treasures sourced from Artisans.
We try by all means to reduce our impact on the environment so only stock beautiful products which have come from sustainable and ethical sources. We are opposed to mass production. And all of our packaging is recycled and recyclable.
Our business philosophy is simply to inspire the Artisan in everyone and to encourage and support the good old fashioned craft of ‘making’.
"making by hand is meditation for your soul..."
